Illegal Change of use redressed by owner

Malta Independent Wednesday, 14 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A villa in San Gwann, recently illegally changed to offices, was reverted to its original use following action by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.

Following a report from San Gwann local council, Mepa officers inspected a residence in Triq Il-Huttaf, San Gwann. This had recently been converted into offices without the necessary permits.

Following the site inspection a month ago, the owner was notified that the change in use required a permit and the situation was to be rectified. An enforcement notice was issued by Mepa and the owner had 15 days in which to rectify the situation.

After the legal time limit had passed, a further inspection was carried out and the illegal operation had stopped and all the office equipment had been removed by the owner.
