Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg denied claims made by Labour MP Angelo Farrugia that an irregularity was committed when court documents ended up at the ministry.

Dr Borg said the documents in question regarded executive official letters dating back to 2005 and 2006.

The transfer of these documents was fully authorised by the court officials and totally legal. No crime was committed so there is no case of criminal proceedings against anyone, the minister said. No steps will be taken on what happened.

Almost half the army got a promotion

Almost half of the people in the Armed Forces of Malta, 616 out of a total of 1,580, obtained a promotion in the recent promotion exercise, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Labour MP Adrian Vassallo.

No contacts to return La Valette sword to Malta

The government of Malta has not made any demand to get back any historically important object which was taken away from Malta, Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said.

The minister was replying to Nationalist MP Franco Galea who asked if any attempt has been made to retrieve the La Valette sword from the French government after it was “stolen” from Malta.

And, in reply to another question by Mr Galea, Justice Minister Tonio Borg said investigations by the police into the disappearance of the Moon rock, stolen from a Maltese museum some time ago, are still ongoing.

Church schools get increased sums

Church schools in Malta have been getting increased sums in these past years, Education Minister Louis Galea told Labour MP Carmelo Abela. They got Lm10.25 million in 2004, Lm11.5 million in 2005 and Lm12.75 million last year.
