Carnival festivities and creativity highlight positive elements of local talent, and must be encouraged, Sedqa, the Agency Against Drugs and Alcohol Abuse, said yesterday.
The colourful feast and enthusiasm prevailing among all ages showed how much the Maltese could work together to create something inventive and funny, it said. During this time of year, everyone could appreciate the work carried out by the many people involved in the event.
The agency expressed its belief that such celebrations should be free from any type of abuse. Responsibility was one of the most important factors during such celebrations, and one could have fun and celebrate without resorting to alcohol abuse.
Children and vulnerable persons were entitled to clean entertainment and protection from abuse, Sedqa said. This should not be the responsibility of parents alone, but also of the organisers and the companies participating in Carnival activities.
