A 40-year-old from Mellieha yesterday appeared in court on charges of attempting to seriously injure another man with a knife.
Christopher Micallef, 40, pleaded not guilty to attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on Paul Bugeja on 14 February at 4.30pm in Hamrun.
He was also accused of assaulting and threatening Mr Bugeja, breaching the peace and being in possession of an unlicensed knife.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, refused bail. Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted while Dr Raphael Fenech Adami appeared for the accused.
