The Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Insular Coastal Dynamics (ICoD) of the Foundation for International Studies, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malta is organising a training course on “Management of Coastal Recreational Tourism” as part of the Malta-Commonwealth Third Country Training Programme.

The Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation (CFTC) is sponsoring participants at this course from a number of Commonwealth countries, including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Ghana, Grenada, Kenya, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Seychelles, St Lucia, Tanzania and Turks & Caicos.

The workshop will be inaugurated on 19 February at the Aula Magna of the Foundation for International Studies in Valletta.

The two-week course consists of a combination of lecture and discussion sessions, short presentations by the participants, site visits to various locations of interest in Malta and Gozo, and a day of on-site fieldwork at beaches in the north of Malta.

The aims of the course are to enhance participants’ skills in support of the sustainable management of coastal leisure and recreational tourism and to provide a forum for discussion and consultation between the participants and the course faculty.
