Malta Independent Saturday, 17 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Vodafone Malta Limited has launched a new concept – The Vodafone Music Jam. During the coming months Vodafone will be supporting a series of musical events through The Vodafone Music Jam. This was announced during a press conference held at Club 22, Portomaso Tower. The Vodafone Music Jam kicks off with a unique unplugged concert by Ira Losco on 17 March.

The concert, which is being organised exclusively for Vodafone customers, is the first in a long line-up of The Vodafone Music Jam series of events featuring the best local talent as well as international acts.

Ira Losco will be performing live and unplugged on Saturday 17 March at the Grandmaster Suite at The Hilton. Doors open at 8pm. Ira Losco will be accompanied by her band, as well as guest musicians.

She will be performing songs from her new album Unmasked and as well as some well-known favourites that have dominated local airwaves. The night will be hosted by Claire Agius and will also feature Chasing Pandora, Scar and Daniel Genius from Bitterside as supporting acts.

Alison Bezzina, Vodafone’s Brand Manager, said, “Vodafone has been supporting the local music scene for a number of years. This year we are taking it a step further with The Vodafone Music Jam, presenting a series of events that will showcase Maltese talent as well as top international acts. More details will be announced in the near future.”

When asked to comment about her music Ira Losco said, “I love writing and recording music, but if there’s one thing I can’t find a comparison to, it’s performing my music live. Nothing compares to sharing my words and music with my audience together with my band on stage.”

“I am thrilled to have Vodafone’s constant support and am looking forward to this concert,” added Ira. According to Ira Losco’s manager, Howard Keith, this will be a one-off concert of its kind by Ira, and certainly one not to be missed.

Ira Losco launched her fourth album titled Unmasked in December, when, together with her band, she played an unplugged set to a packed audience at Axis. The album immediately reached number one in the sales charts after just one week of its release, with its first single Winter Day shooting up to number three in the local radio chart. The album has been described as “more about (Ira) taking a deep look at herself, looking for her more intimate side”.

Tickets for Ira Losco Unplugged will be offered at Lm5 each and are available to Vodafone customers only. In order to purchase a ticket a Vodafone customer must send an SMS to 5091-1359 and will receive a code via SMS. Each SMS costs the normal rate.

As from Monday 19 February, Vodafone customers can purchase tickets from any Vodafone retail outlet and must take with them their mobile phone, the SMS code received and ID card.

Any new customer that joins Vodafone during the ticket sale period and redeems the code sent in the above mentioned SMS will get a refund of Lm5 in credit. Prepaid customers will receive their credit at Lm1 per month for the next 5 months, while post-paid customers will have Lm5 deducted from their next statement.

Furthermore, if a Vodafone customer introduces a friend to join Vodafone and redeems the code sent, he or she will also get the Lm5 in credit. Only one ticket per mobile number may be purchased. ID card numbers will be verified at the door.
