Maltese and Gozitans can now enjoy a wide selection of gourmet coffees, teas, pastries and desserts, all delivered at an outstanding value, at the new McCafé. Adjacent to McDonald’s at the Arkadia Complex in Gozo, McCafé was officially opened by Melo Hili, McDonald’s Malta Managing Director. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech blessed the premises.
“McCafé adds new levels of comfort to McDonald’s, making ours a restaurant where adults will want to spend time. Its character is warm, down-to-earth and unpretentious. It also demonstrates that McDonald’s is in tune with the shifts in attitude towards food and eating, by meeting the wants and needs of its grown-up customers. McCafé offers a contemporary place and way to eat that’s worth a visit. We are confident that McCafé will prove to be more than just a coffee place for all Gozitans and the Maltese visiting the island,” said Mr Hili.
The menu available throughout the day offers customers a variety of choices such as the “Café Blend coffee brewed from 100 per cent Arabica beans – a rich, dark roast available regular and decaffeinated – as well as specially blended espresso, caffè latte, latte macchiato, latte caldo, American coffee and Viennese coffee as well as classical frappé (blended ice and milk) with choice of caramel, strawberry or capuccino flavours. The preparation of the high quality coffees provides an in-store performance. The specially trained barista will serve each customer’s espresso drink taking time and care, which will be critical elements at McCafé. This personal attention to detail is reinforced in every aspect of the McCafé brand experience.
In addition to the coffee menu comes a wide selection of cakes, pastries and snacks including a variety of freshly prepared brioche, muffins, donuts, cannolo siciliano, cookies, tiramisù and millefoglie. Hot snacks will include a choice of panzerotto, arancini siciliani and spinach pies. There is also a selection of fresh sandwiches.
The McCafé concept was first introduced in Australia in 1993 and has evolved into a successful enterprise with more than 300 McCafé establishments worldwide, including countries such as Brazil, Italy, France, New Zealand and Argentina. Each country has adopted a unique variation of McCafé to best suit their needs.
McDonald’s is the leading food service retailer with more than 30,000 local restaurants serving quality food to nearly 50 million customers in more than 100 countries each day. Approximately 70 per cent of McDonald’s restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent, local men and women.
