AD Gozo Condemns ‘political duplicity’ in Munxar

Alternattiva Demokratika Gozo Regional Committee warmly welcomed the Leader of the Opposition’s endorsement of its long held position with regard to the recent irregular activities carried out by the Munxar local council.

Dr Sant has been quoted as asserting that “the concrete pathway built at Ta’ Sanap Cliffs had destroyed flora and fauna” and that the “protection of the environment remained an absolute priority”.

Michael Bajada, AD candidate for Munxar and Xlendi in the forthcoming local council elections was prompted to ask, “What did Dr Sant’s MLP colleague, Munxar councillor and secretary of the Gozo Labour district committee Carmen Said have to say according to the council minutes when the issue of the concrete pathway in Ta’ Sanap was initially raised? Nothing. She condoned what her own party leader condemned as an ‘illegal development and environmental disaster’.”

Dr Harry Vassallo, chairperson of AD said: “The MLP has not only discredited itself by dint of its gross duplicity, but the Gozo Labour district secretary’s tacit agreement regarding the Ta’ Sanap concrete pathway, exposes her as a flawed candidate, unfit to hold public office.”

“Clarity, consistency, coherence, accountability, transparency and consensus are now badly needed by the locality of Munxar and Xlendi, in every respect typical of any other village in Gozo, except perhaps, for its deplorably mismanaged local council,” Dr Vassallo concluded.
