Malta’s successes in the fields of economy, investment, environment and education are leading in the right direction and are recognised by other countries, said Nationalist Party (PN) MEP David Casa.

Mr Casa praised the work of Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and his ministers during a public meeting in Swieqi, as part of his series of meetings with the public called Familja Wahda (One Family). Ninth district PN deputies and the local council election candidates of Swieqi were also present for the meeting.

The PN, unlike the Malta Labour Party (MLP), believes and has always believed in the potential of local councils, said the MEP. He singled out the unity of the PN against the internal disputes in the MLP as a distinction between the two parties.

MLP leader Dr Alfred Sant, said Mr Casa, promises changes while he declines to expound on these changes. The MEP said Dr Sant’s promises in the past have not only been broken, but his actions were totally opposite to his promises.

Mr Casa claimed: “you can find no direction in Alfred Sant’s promises.” According to the Nationalist MEP, the only certainty within the MLP is that faces have changed but everything has remained the same. He also accused the party of glorifying the violence of the past.
