The residential roads the central government is building in Qormi will be ready in eight weeks’ time, Urban Development and Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett promised yesterday.

During a visit in the locality, the minister said Qormi would be one of the first villages on the residential road building programme to have all of its roads ready.

The government was investing Lm85,000 in the building of eight roads in Qormi. It has built 10 roads since 2003, which indicates the government’s commitment in this sector, said the minister.

Mr Mugliett said the completion of these roads would improve the environs and the quality of life of residents. Moreover, in certain cases they would also have a direct impact on the country’s economy, as a number of small enterprises such as mechanics and sprayers were located in these streets. Such enterprises were the motor of Malta’s economy, he said.
