Total guests in collective accommodation establishments during the second quarter of 2026 stood at 857,857 while total nights spent amounted to 3,613,049, the NSO said Tuesday.

In the second quarter of 2026, the largest share of guest nights was reported in 4-star hotels, with 48.2 per cent of the total.

The average length of stay in collective accommodation establishments in the second quarter of 2026, slightly decreased to 4.2 nights when compared to the same quarter of 2025. The net use of bed-places stood at 71.3 per cent, down by 0.3 percentage points when compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

On a national level, during June 2026, there were 368 active collective accommodation establishments with a net capacity of 24,355 bedrooms and 56,329 bed-places.

Regional breakdown

On a regional level, total guests in Malta numbered 815,688, up by 12.7 per cent over the second quarter of 2025.  Additionally, an increase of 8.9 per cent was recorded in the number of nights spent, reaching 3,498,261 nights. Total guests in Gozo and Comino increased by 12.6 per cent to 42,169 while nights increased by 13.5 per cent to 114,788.

When compared with the same quarter of 2025 in Malta, the average length of stay decreased slightly to 4.3 nights, while in Gozo and Comino the average length of stay remained at par with last year at 2.7 nights. The net occupancy rate in Malta decreased by 0.2 percentage points, reaching 72.5 per cent, and that in Gozo and Comino decreased by 1.7 percentage points to 47.8 per cent.
