Work on roads in the Ta’ Mlit area in Mosta, which was promised in 2004, started only a few months ago and is still not completed, Labour leader Alfred Sant said yesterday.
Visiting Mosta, Dr Sant said this procrastination confirmed that Nationalist councils do not carry out much of the work they promise. In the case of Mosta, Dr Sant stood by the 55 per cent rating he had given the local council when he visited the town for the first time a few days ago.
Since announcing the work at Ta’ Mlit, the designs had been changed a number of times and the work started only a few months ago. Although work was supposed to have been carried out on all roads in the area, a few of them had been left out of the current plans.
For their part, Labour councillors in Mosta will continue to promise what can be achieved. He said the Nationalist-led council had said that work would have been carried out in Tumas Chetcuti Street, but nothing has been done. Wied il-Ghasel has been neglected as well.
