Malta Independent Friday, 23 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona, OP, on Tuesday will preside at the celebration of the Eucharist during which five seminarians will ask the Church to accept them officially as candidates for ordination to the Diaconate and the Presbyterate.

The concelebration is being held at Tarxien parish church at 6pm. The five seminarians who are in the fifth year of formation are: Nicholas Doublet from Birkirkara (St Helen), Keith Scicluna from Zabbar, Luke Seguna from Tarxien, and Andrea Zaffarese and Ronnie Zammit from Attard.

Candidacy is an important step in the preparation of young men to priesthood. On behalf of the Church, the Archbishop accepts their request to be officially accepted as candidates for Holy Orders. He presents them to the Christian community so that they may be supported by its prayers and so that it may not cease to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send more workers in his Church.
