The National Folklore Commission of the Tourism and Culture Ministry, while congratulating all the participants during the Carnival celebrations, condemned the incidents that took place on the day the final results were made known.

In a statement, the commission said such incidents cast a bad light on the Carnival activities which the participants work so hard to make successful.

Three Carnival floats were destroyed in a fire on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. The police also needed to be called in to control a rather tense situation at the time the jury was deciding on the winners of the various Carnival competitions.
