Malta Independent Saturday, 24 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Following discussions between the General Workers’ Union and the management, the employees of the Edible Oil Group of Companies are to have improved working conditions and wage increases.

The union said it had struck a deal with Edible Oil’s management on a new collective agreement for the period covering 1 January, 2005 to 31 December this year. Moreover, various clauses in this collective agreement were re-written to conform to the changes introduced as a result of the enactment of the Employment and Industrial Relations Act in 2002.

In addition to this, the new collective agreement also includes changes to work practices, bringing them up-to-date with modern times.

Apart from importing various products, the Edible Oil Group of Companies manufactures a number of other products, including the widely-used bio-diesel.
