Court: Charges Dropped as seized drug was ‘not ecstasy’

Malta Independent Friday, 9 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A court yesterday dropped charges against a man for importing and trafficking 50,000 pills in July last year, after it was found that it was another unscheduled drug.

Sources said the charges against the accused, British national Steven John Lewis Marsden, had to be dropped after evidence showed that the pills did not contain the chemical found in ecstasy.

Although the charges of importing and trafficking ecstasy have been dropped, the man is still being accused, however, with conspiring to deal in drugs.
