Court: Supply Company files counter protest against Malta Shipyards

Malta Independent Friday, 9 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A judicial protest filed by Malta Shipyards Limited against a company that supplies jointing sheets, has prompted a counter protest by the suppliers, Inter-power Limited.

In the protest filed by Malta Shipyards on 28 February, the company claimed that Inter-Power had breached an agreement reached between them by not providing asbestos-free jointing sheets.

However, in the counter judicial protest filed yesterday, the suppliers are claiming that Malta Shipyards has failed to present a copy of the report on the tests carried out on the jointing sheets, even though Inter-Power requested a copy so that they could investigate further.

The protestors also asked the shipyards company to send representatives so that more samples of the jointing sheets could be sent for testing, but they have not yet received a reply from Malta Shipyards.

The suppliers stated that the company’s allegations have no basis whatsoever and the judicial protest was intended to put Inter-Power in a bad light.

The owners of the company, Edward and Keith Micallef St John are holding Malta Shipyards responsible for the damages they are suffering as a result of the judicial protest filed against them.

Dr Christine Bellizzi and legal procurator Gerald Bonello signed the protest.
