The director-general of the law courts and the police commissioner have filed a counter judicial protest in reply to a prison inmate’s claim that a Rolex watch worth Lm30,000 disappeared after the police confiscated it from his house 13 years ago.
Last week, Charles Steven Muscat filed a protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court, requesting the Rolex be returned to him after it was not found in the strong room at the law courts.
In reply, the director-general of the law courts and the police commissioner said that the protester’s allegations and pretensions are totally untrue, frivolous and have no legal grounding.
In the counter protest, the authorities stated that the list of items confiscated by the police from the man’s house in 1994 did not include the watch that he mentioned in the judicial protest.
As a result, the director-general of the law courts and the police commissioner said they cannot possibly be held responsible for the watch.
By way of the counter protest, they are holding the prison inmate legally responsible.
Dr Susan Sciberras signed the writ.
