A 32-year-old woman was charged yesterday with the trafficking and possession of heroin.

Before magistrate Lawrence Quintano, Doreen Bugeja from Swieqi pleaded not guilty to trafficking the drug on 22 April 2005 and during the previous two years.

She also pleaded not guilty to being in possession of the drug, which was found in circumstances that denoted it was not for her personal use.

The woman was further charged with breaching court conditions handed down by way of a probation order.

Police inspector Dennis Theuma prosecuted, and Dr Franco Debono and Dr Charmaine Cherrett appeared for the accused.
