The aim of this Open Week is to encourage the younger generation to pursue a career in the sciences by arousing their interest in science subjects. Teachers, parents and students will be informed about the various degree courses (undergraduate and postgraduate) offered by the Faculty of Science and will also have the opportunity to listen to talks about work carried out in the Faculty of Science and to take a tour of the laboratories.
Sessions for schools are being held on the mornings of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for which Secondary schools and Sixth Form students are being invited.
A special session will also be held tomorrow at 5pm for the general public (particularly parents, students, teachers, etc.) who may be unable to attend the morning sessions. This session will be addressed by the pro-rector for academic affairs of the university, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, who is also Dean of the Faculty of Science, and by Omar Saliba, a recent graduate of the Faculty of Science who is the recipient of the ‘Achievement in Chemistry 2006’ award by Oxford University Press.
