An Experience of the Japanese tradition in Malta

Members of the Tokushima Handicraft Association will be holding an exhibition and demonstrating their skills in the production of traditional Japanese textile crafts in an activity marking the 35th anniversary of the association.

The Department of Information said the fine art involved in the production of traditional Japanese textile handicrafts, as well as the participation in a tea ceremony during one of the many presentations that the association will be holding, should be appreciated by

visitors.

The first of these demonstrations will be held in front of the law courts in Valletta tomorrow from noon to 5pm.

A full exhibition of the same craft will also be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on Saturday from noon to 5pm.

Visitors will be able to participate in dressing in the yukata dress (a costume similar to the kimono) as well as attending a tea ceremony. Admission is free.

This visit by the Tokushima Handicrafts Association is being made possible by Nippon Express Ltd of Japan and SIT of Malta, in association with the Malta Tourism Authority’s representative in Japan and the Tourism and Culture Ministry.
