Malta Independent Saturday, 17 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

This weekend at the National Park, Ta’ Qali (Recreation Area), the Scout Association of Malta will be celebrating its 100th anniversary with a range of activities. The event will take place from today at 12pm to tomorrow at 5.30pm.

Entrance is free of charge but donations to the Scout Association of Malta would be appreciated.

During the weekend, the Cubs, Scouts, Venture Scouts and Rovers present will be able to show the public in general the many skills that they learn during their group activities.

The public will be able to share and join in these activities that will be run at different times throughout the two days through a “walk in activities” experience.

The various activities will consist of craft-making such as plaster craft, pioneering, rope-making, cooking, and games such as obstacle races.

An aerial runway and a climbing/abseiling tower will also be on site while tomorrow afternoon, various Scout bands will be performing.

As the groups taking part have the opportunity to camp at Ta’ Qali throughout the weekend, they will be able to join in a campfire with songs and stunts this evening at 8pm at the Greek Theatre. The public is invited to attend.
