A man was yesterday charged with breaking into three cars in Zebbug on Monday evening and with stealing a car stereo from one of the cars.

Matthew Frendo, 31, from Zebbug, was charged with breaking into the three cars, damaging them and stealing a stereo from one of the cars, a Fiat Punto, to the detriment of Simon Cassar.

The man was further charged with committing a crime during a probation period and relapsing.

Before Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona, the man pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. His request for bail was turned down and he was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Marisa Camilleri prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono and Dr Charmaine Cherrett appeared for the accused.
