HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone presented Tecom Investments with the “Dubai Human Development Award 2006” – Service category, for its outstanding commitment towards the development of its people. The Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA) is open to Dubai-based establishments that invest in national human resources and facilitate their growth and development. The DHDA also recognises organisations that attract and retain talent.
Tecom was commended for excellence in the development of UAE nationals, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing a development plan for national and non-national employees. The award has been presented in 2007 based on the performance in 2006. In his acceptance speech, Abdullatif Almulla, CEO of Tecom Investments said: “Receiving an award that celebrates human resource development is a clear testament to our success. Emiratisation – that is, the recruitment and development of talented UAE nationals throughout our organisation – has always been TECOM’s top priority substantiated by the fact that 27 per cent of our employees comprise UAE nationals.
“I’m very proud of this accomplishment as it represents a step forward in our journey towards People’s Criteria of Business Excellence Model.”
Almulla added: “It is also an honour to be selected for this award among other outstanding contenders in the industry.”
This year’s edition of the DHDA includes awards in eight economic sectors including Finance, Construction, Trading, Professional, Tourism, Services, Manufacturing and Semi Public.
Since its inception, it has unveiled a series of initiatives including the six-month Mustaqbali programme and Forsaty programme for the recruitment and training of skilled UAE nationals.
