10 HSBC Cardholders win fantastic prizes

Malta Independent Monday, 26 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Ten HSBC customers will certainly remember HSBC’s Grand Cardmania Quiz held at the Hard Rock Café at Baystreet. These customers were randomly selected from the thousands of HSBC customers who used their credit or debit card between December and January to pay for purchases or services of Lm10 and over.

During the quiz, which was hosted by well-known presenter Gianni, the competitors answered 30 multiple choice questions on subjects such as music, sport, cinema and general knowledge.

While the judges marked the papers, the contestants and their guests were treated to Hard Rock’s delicious food and drinks. Two tie-breakers were necessary to establish 3rd and 4th place, and 5th and 6th place, but at the end of the day, the results showed that Christine Cachia Enriquez had won the first prize and walked away with a Samsung 40” LCD television complete with a wireless surround system. Second prize went to Jacqueline Scerri, who won a Samsung side-by-side fridge, while Charles Dalli won a Samsung 32” LCD television for coming third.

Edward Refalo and Carmelo Sacco came fourth and fifth respectively, and both won a Samsung Camcorder. Ray Cutajar, Joanne Pullen Falzon, Blanche Coppola, Marie Louisa Zammit and Samantha Jane Lautier each walked off with a Samsung mobile phone.

The prizes were presented to all 10 contestants by HSBC Malta head of marketing Brian Tortell, in the presence of Eman Castagna, managing director of Sound Machine Ltd, local distributors for Samsung.

“While taking the opportunity to congratulate today’s winners, I would just like to mention that with such initiatives, HSBC continues to remain close to its customers, as we will continue to be the market leader in promoting the use of cards as an alternative to cash. We have seen a marked increase in the use of credit and debit cards in Malta, as more and more customers realise the benefits and convenience of using our cards in the over 4,200 local outlets and millions of others overseas,” said Mr Tortell.
