Gharb local council and the Gozo Ministry held a festival of art, culture, history and music spread over the long weekend of 16-18 March. Seher il-Punent, as it was called, brought out the main characteristics of the Gozitan village.
During the three days of the festival, the village was transformed into a display of continuous activity, with the main square, Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna – which was the principle venue, being decorated for the occasion.
All places of historical interest and culture, such as museums and chapels, were open until late and guided walking tours around the village were also organised, together with re-enactments of historical events, band marches, art and crafts exhibitions and many other events.
There was also an area for children, with games and animators. Local rock bands and dance groups, together with other artists, performed on various small stages that were set up along the main street leading to the square.
