Two people were hospitalised on Monday morning after the car they were in overturned.

The accident happened at around 11am in Triq Burmarrad in St Paul’s Bay, police said in a statement.

Preliminary investigations showed that a 65-year-old woman from St Paul’s Bay lost control of the Toyota Fun Cargo that she was driving, with the consequence of the car overturning onto its side.

Both she and a 75-year-old man from Mellieha who was a passenger in the car were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.  They were certified as suffering from light and grievous injuries respectively.

Police said that investigations are still ongoing.
