Two men were yesterday charged with stealing a number of mobile phones from a shop in Zebbug.

Jonathan Stewart, 20, and Wayne Briffa, 19, both from Paola, were charged with stealing the mobile phones from Fitness Planet in Zebbug at around 5pm on 24 June 2005. They were also charged with damaging some mobile phones when they allegedly threw them in water.

Mr Briffa alone was charged with assisting Mr Stewart in the commission of a crime while both were further charged with receiving stolen goods and with breaching the conditions of a previous release. The men pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

Dr Chris Cardona appeared for Mr Stewart while Dr Franco Debono appeared for Mr Briffa.
