In order to fully appreciate antique weapons and armoury, it is important to be able to see them in person, to better visualise and fully appreciate these magnificent relics of our heritage.

Through a three-year collaboration between Gasan Mamo Insurance Ltd and Heritage Malta, formally making GasanMamo Insurance Ltd the Palace Armoury Patron, the armoury will by the end of 2007 boast 15 life-size models in full armour enhancing the splendour of the weapons and armour on display. This initiative is among other important initiatives.

The funds donated for 2007 have made it possible for Heritage Malta to acquire these models and clothe them in full armour, with all the fine detail right down to the leather used for the boots.

Speaking at a press conference to mark the occasion, Albert P. Mamo, managing director, GasanMamo Insurance Ltd said that this partnership endorses the company’s objective to implement corporate social responsibility towards contributing to the restoration and preservation of our national heritage.

“Our heritage belongs to each and every one of us. By supporting Heritage Malta in its continuous endeavours, we contribute towards making heritage accessible to all,” he said.

Dr Mario Tabone, chairman of Heritage Malta reiterated this point adding that the sponsorship enables Heritage Malta to give our heritage and our past the best possible future.
