Service users of Sapport agency will benefit from work done in one of the agency’s residences in Cospicua, which will host around six people with a disability at one time and is the latest addition to the number of Sapport premises across Malta.

Finishing work on this residence was carried out recently with the support of the HSBC Cares for Children Fund and the assistance of volunteers from Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and Mizzi Organisation, as part of Corporate Social Responsibility Day.

Work undertaken included the painting of walls, the painting of external and internal wooden apertures, the painting of steel railings and pregnant windows and external painting on the roof. The volunteers also carried out general cleaning of the area surrounding the property.

Other entities, including the Community Chest Fund and Voices, are also contributing towards the furnishing of the residence, that offers a homely environment to those benefitting from the service.

At present, Sapport agency offers residential services to over 45 people with a disability through a variety of housing models based on individual needs and available resources. Through its residential service, Sapport enables those with a disability to live independently or with others, especially if the family home environment does not exist or cannot be made available. Residents apply their various skills in community living backed by individualised support plans.
