Malta’s national airline, Air Malta became one of the main sponsors of the Maltese Olympic Committee. On signing the agreement yesterday, Air Malta renewed the close relationship which always existed between the two entities.
In recent past, Air Malta and the Maltese Olympic Committee always embraced reciprocal cooperation in particular during the organisation in Malta of two editions of the Games for Small States of Europe held in Malta in 1993 and 2003. Besides, Air Malta was also the official carrier during other major sports events.
The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive of Air Malta, Joe Cappello and the General Secretary of the Maltese Olympic Committee Joe Cassar.
For the signing of the agreement, Brian Barolo, general manager for marketing and product of Air Malta and Pippo Psaila, director of sport and chef de mission of the Maltese Olympic Committee were also present.
Joe Cappello had positive comments on the development registered in the administrative and technical set-up of the Maltese Olympic Committee and such agreement will surely be of benefit for both parties and for the athletes who represent Malta in the international scene. The Malta contingent will leave Malta on 3 June for Monaco to participate in the 12th Games of the Small States of Europe.
Joe Cassar, general secretary of the MOC, thanked Air Malta for the close cooperation which always existed between them and the MOC and wished that such an agreement will be the starting point for a wider relationship to the benefit of the national associations affiliated with the MOC.
