A company filed an application for a warrant of prohibitory injunction against Maltacom yesterday, claiming that the telecommunications company was not respecting a three-year agreement it had with Multiplus Ltd for the installation of a digital television network.
Nexos Ltd filed the application in the First Hall of the Civil Court against Maltacom and its chairman Sonny Portelli, as the new owners of Multiplus Ltd. In its application, Nexos Ltd explained that on 10 August 2005 the company signed an agreement with Multiplus Ltd for the provision of a
service whereby it would install digital terrestrial television network.
In February this year, Multiplus Ltd was acquired by Maltacom plc, but in the meantime the agreement Nexos had with Multiplus Ltd was ignored and Maltacom employees were installing the network themselves.
Nexos claimed that the agreement was valid until 2008 and therefore called on the court to issue a warrant of prohibitory injunction against Maltacom, preventing its employees from continuing to install the network which, according to this agreement, should be carried out by Nexos employees.
Dr Anna Mifsud Bonnici signed the writ.
