A woman was jailed for two years yesterday after she admitted trafficking heroin and cocaine in August 2003.
Josette Bickle, 37, had already been jailed in connection with this case last September but the judgement was overturned by an Appeals Court after it ruled that the omission of the facts of the case from the judgement made it null and void.
The Appeals Court sent the case records back to the Magistrates’ Court for a judgement to be handed down according to law.
Bickle was arraigned following investigations into the death of a man who had been found dead in a Valletta apartment. Investigations had revealed that he had been released from Mount Carmel Hospital and that he had bought drugs from Bickle.
In his judgement handed down yesterday, magistrate Giovanni Grixti noted that Bickle had filed a guilty plea. He jailed her for two years and fined her Lm1,500, after taking into consideration the fact that she had helped the police with their investigations.
Police Inspectors Nezren Grixti and Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.
