Malta Independent Sunday, 29 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The last tour in the series of cultural tours for this season will be a boat ride around the harbours in Valletta. The boat will sail around the two harbours on either side of Valletta – Marsamxett Harbour and Grand Harbour.

A detailed commentary on the history of Valletta and the Three Cities connected with the two Great Sieges of 1565 and 1942 will be given, as well as interesting information about other places of interest, including the historical forts, battlements and creeks, which can only be admired from the sea. During the tour, refreshments will be served.

The monthly cultural tours are organised by the Ministry for Tourism and Culture, in collaboration with the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, the Malta Tourism Authority and Heritage Malta. The organisers express their appreciation to The Malta Union of Tourist Guides for their support.

The tour will take place on Sunday. Transport will leave Floriana (next to the Independence Monument) at 8.45am and from opposite the Nazarene Church in Sliema also at 8.45am. Tickets are Lm4.50 for adults and Lm3.50 for senior citizens and children.

Booking, together with payments, must be made by not later than noon of Wednesday at the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, 230 Republic Street, Valletta. For further information contact Noel D’Amato on telephone 2123 2515, e-mail: [email protected]
