Malta Independent Sunday, 29 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The exhilarating, dramatic, action-packed and fast growing water motor sports in Europe will once again be held in Valletta’s Grand Harbour. The P1 Maltese Grand Prix will take place between 9am and 10.30pm on Saturday and from 9am to 6pm on Sunday.

The races in Grand Harbour and the P1 fireworks display give the public the opportunity to watch a great spectacle in the unique location of the Valletta Waterfront, for free. Alternatively, visitors to the Pinto Marina can also enjoy lunch and dinner or visit one of the shops at the Waterfront while the races are taking place.

Many of the world’s leading boat and engine manufacturers are represented and competition is intense as the most advanced production performance boats, some generating up to 2000 horsepower, demonstrate acceleration, turning and outright speed in difficult conditions and at the highest level of competition. There are two categories of powerboats taking place, the Evolution class and the SuperSport class.
