The Scouts’ and Guides’ Joint Annual Parade will be held on Sunday 6 May, when it is estimated that there will be around 4,500 scouts and guides participating. There will be 39 scout groups and 30 guide companies, which include 16 scout bands. The parade will march in district order with the North District leading the South, Central and Gozo Districts respectively.

It will be the seventh joint parade. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the Scout Movement worldwide. It was precisely on 1 August, 1907 that the Scout Movement was born.

The event will begin with a thanksgiving Holy Mass at St Publius Church, Floriana by Fr Richard Borg, parish priest of Floriana, assisted by Fr Anton Briffa OFM Cap., Commissioner for Religious Dimensions of The Scout Association of Malta. At 10.15am all participating Scout Groups and Guide Companies will form up on the Floriana Granaries in the prescribed order of marching and at 10.45am they will march off towards Valletta.

The marching route will be through City Gate, down Republic Street, into Archbishop Street and up Merchants Street.

The newly introduced Beavers Section within The Scout Association of Malta which will be making its first official appearance.

President Eddie Fenech Adami and Mrs Fenech Adami, patrons of the respective associations, accompanied by the Chief Scout and the President of the Girl Guides Association will take the Salute at Palace Square.
