Bank of Valletta is sponsoring the Earth Garden Festival – a two-day bonanza of music, drama and art being held on Saturday and Sunday at the National Park in Ta’ Qali. The event, in collaboration with the MREA and Mepa, will enable those present to participate and contribute towards making our island a greener place to live in.

Charles Azzopardi, manager responsible for marketing and communications, and Joyce Tabone, manager responsible for quality and corporate social responsibility at Bank of Valletta, presented the bank’s sponsorship to Reuben Spiteri from D Artz and Desmond Vella from Exit Promotions during a visit on location where the events will be held.

Ms Tabone said that the environment, arts and culture “form two main pillars of Bank of Valletta’s community programme and Earth Garden promises to be a popular event that is set to continue to raise environmental awareness while promoting Maltese talent.”

Ms Tabone said BOV has created an association with the Ta’ Qali National Park where it has planted hundreds of trees through the 34U campaign and is also sponsoring the embellishment of the Ta’ Qali picnic area thanks to the BOV Ta’ Qali Environment Project.

The festival, being organised by Exit Events, TribaliMusic and D Artz aims to reach a wide, varied, multicultural audience of all ages, so that families, travelling communities, art, theatre and music lovers, environmentalists, young and old may all experience this new wave of arts-inspired entertainment.

An “Open Village” within the national park will focus on environmental awareness with a Spring Fair giving green tips. It will feature environmental information and healthy food, alongside artistic installations, live painting, acoustic sessions, street drama, photography and a world music market. There will also be a “Film Village” area that will promote short films produced by Maltese film makers over the past few years.

In the evenings, the Greek Theatre at Ta’ Qali will host the highlight of the festival with performances from Malta’s premier exponents in world music where the likes of Renzo Spiteri, Tribali, Nafra, Spooky Monkey and Etnika will come together to perform.
