Malta Independent Wednesday, 2 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

As part of its Blue Campaign to raise awareness of the Marine Environment, Din l-Art Helwa, the National Trust of Malta, is organising a photographic competition that is open to all diving schools, clubs, students, lovers of the environment and the public at large.

There are to be two photographic categories for entries with a maximum of three colour prints entered for each category. One category is for photographs showing sea pollution or any other negative effects of human activity on the sea or coastal environment around the Maltese islands, while the second is for photographs showing the beauty of underwater life.

The event will take place at Din l-Art Helwa’s headquarters at 133 Melita Street, Valletta, on 27 June with prizes of Lm100 being awarded to each of the winning entries for the two photographic categories.

Participants are requested to show their interest in participating by writing to Din l-Art Helwa, c/c Stanley Farrugia Randon, 133 Melita Street, Valletta, by not later than 15 May and should collect their application forms and terms and conditions from the same address. Participants are to submit their entries, together with the application forms, to Din l-Art Helwa by not later than 10 June. For further information please call 2122-5952.

Dr Stanley Farrugia Randon, organiser of the competition for Din l-Art Helwa, said that the organisation is keen to have maximum participation. It believes that the initiative will help raise awareness of the importance of our beautiful marine and coastal environment and the need to protect it for future generations.
