The bands are Straight Ahead, Purple Haze, Mistaken Identity, The Broadcasters and Sunstroke. Each band will be performing for one hour with a selection of songs from the 80s till the present day. The gigs will start at 8.30 pm and will be hosted on an open-air stage in Independence Square, Victoria.

The other event, to be held on Sunday, is a philharmonic concert by the La Stella Band of Victoria where a varied selection of well-known musical excepts will be conducted by Mro Joseph Vella.

The concert, which follows band marches along Republic street, Victoria, will be presided by the Hon. Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi, and will be held at Independence Square, Victoria at 7.30 pm.

Entrance is free of charge for both events and the general public is invited to participate.
