Training Programme in London for Bank of Valletta employees

A group of nine Bank of Valletta employees have just returned from a two-day training programme at Insight Investment’s office in London. During their visit, the BOV employees had briefing sessions with Insight Investment’s senior investment advisors Alex Illingworth, who is also a director of Valletta Fund Management, Toby Hayes and Francois Zagame from the Multi-Manager Team, Martin Ayres who is a UK equities Research Analyst and Mark Winter, Head of Equity Dealing at Insight Investment.

During these sessions, the group was given first hand information on the performance of the La Valette Mediterranean Rim Fund, which invests in securities of issuers of countries located in the Mediterranean region, as well information on the Malta Funds by Alex Illingworth.

Toby Hayes provided information on the benefits of Valletta Fund Management’s Multi Manager Funds and how this exciting concept gives investors access to some of the best investment talent around. He also spoke about the La Valette Multi Manager Property Fund, which as at 10 April 2007 had a fund size of more than E77 million. On the other hand, Francois Zagame spoke about the Vilhena Dynamic Multi-Manager Fund, which is designed to provide investors with an innovative investment diversified across several asset classes and markets, aiming for the fund to be a resilient investment in all market conditions.

Martin Ayres gave the group in-depth information on Insight Investment’s pro-active approach in identifying potential companies and other investment opportunities that may emerge in today’s fast growing market. Meanwhile, Mark Winter touched on the process of trading equities at the best possible prices and in the most efficient and effective way.

The group also visited a Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) branch in central London, where they exchanged views and ideas with the branch manager and financial planning officer. They also had a tour of the London’s Metal Exchange and the Bank of England Museum.

This training programme was made possible thanks to Bank of Valletta’s business partnership with Insight Investment, a subsidiary of HBOS Group. Valletta Fund Management Limited, Bank of Valletta’s Fund Management subsidiary, is a joint venture between Bank of Valletta, having a 60% shareholding and Insight Investment, having a 40% equity stake.
