Low-fares airline Ryanair yesterday announced a new route from Malta to Barcelona (Girona), with tickets going on sale on www.ryanair.com. The new, thrice-weekly route will start in October when Ryanair increases its Barcelona-based aircraft from seven to nine.

To celebrate, Ryanair has launched fares from e0.01, excluding taxes and charges, on its routes from Malta.

Announcing the new route, Ryanair’s sales and marketing manager for southern Europe, Bridget Dowling said: “Ryanair’s existing routes to Dublin, London and Pisa have proven hugely successful as has the recently-announced route from Malta to Bremen. We are delighted to announce a fifth route to Barcelona (Girona) which will operate three times a week from 30 October. We expect to carry 40,000 passengers on this route in the first year of operations.”

Flight times are departure at 6.45am from Girona, arriving in Malta at 9.05am, and 9.30am from Malta, landing at Girona at noon.
