New Offices for Raiffeisen Malta Bank plc

On Friday 20 July, Raiffeisen Malta Bank p.l.c. inaugurated its new premises in Sliema. For this special occasion, a number of distinguished guests from Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG (RZB), in Vienna travelled to Malta. The official inauguration of the new premises was preceded by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi. A number of distinguished guests from the banking and finance industry attended the inauguration.

Anthony C. Schembri, General Manager of Raiffeisen Malta Bank plc, delivered a short introductory speech in which he thanked the Board of Directors for their continuous support and the Prime Minister for making himself available for this special occasion. Patrick J. Galea, chairman of the Bank, welcomed the distinguished guests, especially those travelling from Vienna, and gave an overview of the bank’s 11-year history in Malta. Helmut Breit, head of corporate, trade and export finance at Raiffeisen Zentralbank (RZB) in Vienna gave an overview of the successes of RZB in the last couple of years, becoming one of the top 100 banks in the world. Elisabeth Kehrer spoke about the excellent trade relations and business between Austria and Malta. The concluding speech was delivered by Dr Gonzi where he emphasised on the importance of the financial services sector for the Maltese economy.

After the speeches, Dr Gonzi unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark this special occasion.
