Malta Independent Sunday, 19 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The ifs School of Finance is celebrating the first anniversary since it changed its name this week, which saw an end to the Institute of Financial Services in both the UK and in Malta.

In August 2006, the Institute of Financial Services in Malta was renamed simply ifs Malta, with the letters “i f s” acknowledging the history of the organisation while no longer being the acronym for the Institute of Financial Services. In the UK, the prestigious organisation is now known as the ifs School of Finance, a name change established by Royal Charter.

The ifs School of Finance provides financial education to financial services professionals the world over, including Malta where the ifs School of Finance has approximately 600 members and many students.

Phil Hall, a spokesman for the ifs School of Finance said,

“The name change last year was an exciting milestone in our ongoing development as a fully-fledged educational body dedicated to financial learning. The last 12 months has seen recognition of our new identity grow both in the UK and in key overseas markets such as Malta.

“ifs Malta, in association with the ifs School of Finance, continues to be successful not only because of the provision of rigorous and internationally respected qualifications to the financial services industry but also because of the vibrancy and determination of this forward-looking overseas centre. I am sure that under the impressive leadership of president Jo Abdilla ifs Malta will continue to excel.”

The ifs School of Finance has over 80,000 students in 100 countries, making it the leading provider of qualifications to the financial services industry.
