Visitors to Valletta tomorrow will experience a very different capital city than the one they are used to. This will be the final event of this year’s BOV Streets Alive.

Upon entering Valletta, people will be able to participate in games that will be organised in Freedom Square and Republic Street. These will include temple building and a waiter race. Car-lovers will be treated to a Go-Kart racing demonstration in Freedom Square, while the best of modified cars on the island will be on show in Palace Square.

For the more adventurous, members of the Red Cross Society will be taking to the ropes and abseiling down City Gate, while a demonstration of different forms of martial arts – Ninjitsu, Tai Chi and Kendo – will take place in Freedom Square, followed by a performance by an exotic fire dancer.

The air in Republic Square (Pjazza Regina) will be filled with excerpts from operettas and Neapolitan songs by the Valletta Dramatic Company, whose show will start at 9pm. At the same time, but inside the ruins of the old opera house, people will be able to enjoy the satirical show Bla Kondixin by Ideas Alive.

A haunted house, the Convent of St Ursula, the Valletta market, the Sette Giugno Monument and Ollie’s Last Stand, the pub in Valletta where acclaimed actor Oliver Reed passed away during the filming of the blockbuster movie Gladiator, are the locations being described during the guided tours departing from City Gate.
