MLP Leader has no limits to his twisting of facts – PN

Malta Independent Thursday, 23 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The government said yesterday it was shameful that there were no limits to the leader of the opposition’s political strategy of twisting facts for his political advantage. The latest in a series in this strategy was the pitiful case of the son of former ambassador Richard Muscat. The leader of the opposition knew of the condition of the ambassador’s son so it was never justified to use him for partisan political ends.

The former ambassador had explained in detail how last Friday he had informed the Maltese authorities, and the reason for his resignation. “It was a sacrifice, but I took this decision because I felt it was the best choice for my family and my country. I feel at peace because my conscience is in the clear.”

Unfortunately, the government said, with his strategy of deceit even in this case, the leader of the opposition was showing crass insensitivity towards the Muscat family in their difficulties. It would be better for the leader of the opposition to explain to the people the motivations he had for this attack, which was detrimental to the Muscat family, the government said.
