Gharghur local council is

benefiting from a new HSBC initiative that is helping the realisation of small-scale projects and programmes in the local community. The council will be using HSBC funds to restore niches and statues around the village, preserving cultural heritage and embellishing the area.

HSBC Malta is giving a donation of Lm1,000 (EUR2,329.37) to every local council for community initiatives for the environment, children, education or heri-tage in their area.

“Once agreements are reached with each council, HSBC will be contributing a total of Lm70,000 (EUR163,056.14) to this initiative,” said HSBC Malta chief executive officer Shaun Wallis.

“Local council remits are vast but finances are limited, and often there are so many little improvements that need to be done in the local community, so we are delighted to be of help.”
