A 24-year-old from Zebbug was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, after he admitted threatening to kill another man in his hometown on 4 August.

Before magistrate Anthony Vella, Kevin Mifsud pleaded guilty to having used a shotgun to threaten Roderick Agius, using violence against him and insulting him.

Vella was also found guilty of carrying a loaded firearm without a licence and less than 200 metres away from an inhabited area.

He was further charged with carrying a firearm while committing a crime and with carrying more ammunition than is allowed by law.

Vella was sentenced to jail for six months, suspended for a year against a personal guarantee of Lm100 for the operative period of the suspended sentence.

Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for the accused. Dr Marion Camilleri and Dr Franco Debono appeared parte civile.
