The second phase of migration to Mater Dei Hospital is well underway, with the occupational therapy department moving to the new hospital today, the Foundation for Medical Services said yesterday.

A spokesman added that the physiotherapy department would move to Mater Dei next week.

The two departments will be operating at both sites until the transition is complete, he explained.

The first phase of migration began almost a month ago, when around 100 administrative and managerial employees started reporting for work at Mater Dei instead of St Luke’s Hospital, and has now been completed.

These outpatients’ services form part of the second phase of migration, which is expected to continue over the coming weeks until the entire outpatients’ department is transferred to Mater Dei.

At present, clinical psychologists and the parentkraft department are receiving patients at Mater Dei.

The spokesman said that the second phase would be completed within the next few weeks.

So far, the migration process from St Luke’s Hospital to Mater Dei has been very smooth and should be completed by the end of the year.
