AmCham – Malta Seminar on private equity

The American Chamber of Commerce – Malta (AmCham – Malta) have launched a series of four seminars with the theme “Alternative Sources of Finance: A US Perspective”. The seminars will be held between September and December.

The subject chosen for the first seminar is “Private Equity”, which will be held on 14 September at the Malta Hilton between 8.15 and 10.30am. The seminars are being organised in collaboration with the US Embassy in Malta and the support of the Ministry of Finance, Malta Financial Services Authority, the Malta Stock Exchange and HSBC Bank, Malta

The speaker for the first seminar is Ronald Hopkins who was selected as “Dealmaker of the Year 2003” by American Lawyer magazine. Mr Hopkins is a partner at Latham & Watkins New York office. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions and is global head of the Private Equity Practice Group. He represents a number of private equity firms, including The Carlyle Group and Welsh Carson, and has been lead counsel to several consortiums of private equity firms in some of the largest leverage buyouts consummated to date. Mr Hopkins is a graduate in economics and obtained his J.D. from Harvard University in 1998.

The themes chosen for the other three seminars are “Listing on the Stock Exchange for Small Companies”, “The role of Market Makers in a Stock Exchange” and “Private Investments in Public Equity (PIPES)”.
