In a radio programme on Super 1 Radio, Labour Deputy Leader Dr Charles Mangion stated, “Putting affordable housing within the reach not just of the few but the many is vital both to meeting individual aspirations and a better future for our country.

“Today, we are putting forward a series of practical policies that will make a difference; policies that will start addressing the needs of young people and start tackling the problem of affordable housing. Lm7,300 benefit for first time buyers.”

The first initiatives, proposed by the Labour Party are:

1. Setting up a first-time property buyer fund

2. Interest rates aid scheme

3. Reduction in property transfer tax

4. Rescheduling of debt commitment for the unemployed

“We deeply believe that these initiatives will have social and economic positive effects on first time buyers. And a new Labour government will be on the side of young people.”
